Insider Tips for the 2016 Viva Fresh Expo

Posted by IFCO Systems
March 30, 2016

The 2nd annual Viva Fresh Produce Expo is just days away.  IFCO is proud to be a longtime member and ongoing sponsor of the Expo and the Texas International Produce Association. We are eager to get to San Antonio for the 2016 Expo to be among the record breaking 1,300+ attendees.

IFCO Director of Retail Sales Ed Bertaud is a past TIPA Chair, current Expo Steering Committee member, and South Texas resident. We asked him to provide some tips to help Viva Fresh attendees make the most of the Expo. Here is what we learned:

Thursday, March 31

19th Hole Celebration
6:30 - 9:30 pm
Even if you aren't participating in the Viva Fresh golf tournament, this is a can't-miss event. Local country singer Lauren Corzine will perform live!

Friday, April 1

Virtual Field Tours
11:00 - 11:55 am
1:30 - 2:30 pm
These virtual field tours will be extremely valuable. You will be able to tour two to three facilities in one day from the comfort of your chair, and without leaving the JW Marriott. Come see what state-of-the-art technology can do to help boost your learning at the Expo.

Aggies for Fresh Intro Luncheon
12:00 - 1:15 pm
New for this year's Expo, Aggies for Fresh is on a mission to recruit students from Texas A&M University to the fresh produce industry. Learn About These Six Students and meet them in person at the luncheon.

Welcome Reception
6:30 - 8:30 pm
In addition to networking with your industry colleagues, we’d love to see you at the Welcome Reception in support of our industry and the Texas International Produce Association!

Don’t forget to review the Schedule-at-a-Glance for additional details.

In addition to the must-attend Viva Fresh events, Ed has some local insider tips to share:

Fine Dining - 18 Oaks

Located in the clubhouse of the TPC San Antonio, this gem can be easy to miss - but don’t let it happen! Take advantage of a great Happy Hour & Late Lunch Menu from 2 to 6 pm.

NCAA Basketball – Final Four
High Velocity Sports Grill

If your team is in the Final Four (or if you're following the Shell Houston Open), slip into the High Velocity Sports Grill at the JW Marriott for refreshments and some hand-cut Texas sweet onion rings.

Try the Burnt Ends at Cibolo Moon

Head to the JW Marriott's Cibolo Moon restaurant for an authentic taste of Texas – try the smoked brisket burnt ends. This is highly recommended if you’d like a good meal to share with colleagues.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2016 Viva Fresh Expo. Please stop by IFCO Booth #82 and say hello to Ed and the IFCO team! To learn more about IFCO visit www.ifco.com.
